Begin by copying an object from nature and then gradually move into abstraction. Think of it as drawing an object accurately with all the detail, then repeat what you just did, but this time as if looking through a fog, or if like me, without your glasses on to ensure things are exceptionally blurry.

I wake up and look at the day around me. I watch the shape of the clouds this morning and the sun take over the shaded spot in the driveway. I get out my paints and brushes and prepare my canvas. I try my best to recreate the scene outside my window. Stroke after stroke I think that is close. Never truly satisfied, I believe it is finished. In the cornfields of Waterloo, Iowa, Daniel MacGregor, the founder of Daniel MacGregor Studios was born with a great passion for the outdoors.
He grew up in the small town of Austin, ouside of Rochester, MN where he found his eye for art. After moving from Minnesota to Mississippi and experiencing all its rich, cultural differences, he began his journey of expression through drawing, painting and photography.
Becoming an Eagle Scout and having been awarded National Merit Gold Key awards during his high school education at Saint Andrew's Episcopal School for his work are the things he values growing up.
His family always loved his early works; even as a child, they believed in his talent. In the fall of 2008, as Daniel was creating his original modern contemporary
paintings studio, it was obvious to many that his artwork was inspired, adored and Daniel MacGregor Studios was soon born.

After five years of art and design school at Mississippi College, Daniel recieved his BA in Art. After graduating, Daniel worked at an advertising agency and developed their network infrastructure, which quickly moved him into Information Technology, where he used his talents not only for his design work, but for his computer expertise as well.
Today, he paints abstracts, nature scenes and landscapes in between his duties as an IT Director, husband to his beautiful wife, Alyson and
father to his daughters, Leah and Ella.
Currently residing in Brandon, Mississippi with his wife, his dog and his two daughters, he is still busy today expressing himself through his art. Read his mission statement, visit Daniel's blog (www.danielmacgregorblog.com) or follow him on twitter to find out more about the artist and his modern contemporary paintings.
"He has a fabulous use of color. One of the things that intrigues me is how his series of panels; the individuals by themselves are wonderful, but together they make such an incredible impact. The depth and intensity of his color, it's almost mesmerizing. When we're at the desk at work, it's hard to look away from them."
